Actor A: The play’s the thing!
Actor B: What thing?
A: I thought you knew.
B: No.
A: Me neither.
[Enter Actor C]
C: The thing is the theme.
A and B: Thanks!

That is, the play is the theme of NOWW’s upcoming reading, The Playground, on Tuesday, November 17, 2009.
Featuring readings of dramatic works by Cathi Grandfield (with help from Brian Whitfield, Jennifer Jones, and Marianne Jones), Heather Esden, and Richard Boon, the evening is sure to provide inspiration and delight.
Inspired in advance? Excellent! Bring a short (two minute) dramatic monologue or poem you’ve written on behalf of your favourite literary hero or villain, and delight the rest of us by reading it at the open mic!
Who will you choose? Iago, who ruined Othello? Cruel Fate, who did in Juliet and her Romeo (with a little help from their parents)? Dudley Do-Right, a true Canadian icon?
Readings are at 7 p.m. in the Fireside Room of the Brodie Resource Library, 216 S. Brodie Street, Thunder Bay.
